Mac Eldridge

My aspirations to direct all started when I was 15 and my film-loving friend took me to his place of employment: the local movie theater. At the time, I never thought of being a director; I actually wanted to be a doctor (the next Dr. Dre, more specifically). I just went because, hey, who doesn't want to see a free movie? It was all for fun, until he took me to see The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. I had never seen anything like it before, and since then, I knew what I wanted to do.

I spent the rest of my formative years becoming a film buff, then I attended DePaul University for a degree in Digital Cinema. After graduation, I started making spec spots. After creating a very successful spec for the PGA TOUR, I was offered a job at PGA TOUR Entertainment, their internal production company. There, I had the pleasure of working with guys I grew up admiring, and it allowed me to learn how to direct athletes. The opportunity led me to direct for other really cool companies, like The Onion.

The most awesome moment in my life was when I was 21 and a short horror film I created played in a packed theater of 800 people. The audience jumped at one moment, and the adrenaline I felt right then and there hasn't left me since. I think I've lived my life trying to get a reaction from people, and my work as a director thus far has been a continuation of that desire.
